If the residential or commercial property has an existing connection, an application for service is required to establish water and sewer services at the property address. Please note, Spotsylvania County Utilities does not initiate water and sewer services by telephone.

All new tap, meter and service connections require an application and authorization prior to connection through Spotsylvania County Utilities Engineering and Construction Division. All applicable New Connection (Developer) Rates and Fees apply. Please visit the Development pages for more information or call (540) 507-7300, option 2.
Spotsylvania County Utilities generally processes completed applications for water and sewer services to existing connections within one business day. In order for the application to be processed, all required documentation must be received.

To establish an account for water/sewer service to an existing connection, the following is required:
**All Rental Lease Agreements must be signed by the Property Management/Owners of the property AND it must be signed by all individuals listed as Tenants to be considered a valid lease. In addition, the lease agreement should also indicate the tenants are responsible for utilities.
Spotsylvania County Utilities does not transfer services from one location to another. A new application is required. Please see the Apply for Water/Sewer Service page (LINK) for more information.
Be sure to let Spotsylvania County Utilities know that you want to stop service at your previous address after your move (or at anytime you are ready). Please call the Customer Service department at (540) 507-7300, option 1.

Your request will be sent to the Engineering and Construction Division for review. If water and/or sewer service is available to the property address, they will send you a quote and further instructions about how to proceed to obtain water and/or sewer at the property address.
