Households or businesses that receive water and/or sewer bills from Spotsylvania County Utilities who meet the program eligibility criteria.
The rules and regulations associated under section 601(a) of the Social Security Act, as added by section 5001 of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act ("CARES Act") will govern the use of the COVID-19 Utility Assistance Funds.
Your Spotsylvania County Utilities water and/or sewer account must be an open account, at least 30 days past due, and the past due amount must have occurred between March 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021, to be considered for relief under this program.

Direct assistance payments will be split equally based upon the number of eligible applicants.

The rules and regulations associated with the CARES Act govern the timeline for which funding assistance can be distributed. All applications must be received by 11:59 a.m., Sunday, August 15, 2021, in order for the department to meet the stringent deadlines of the program. Any application made after the deadline cannot be included in the program.
Funding is designed to be a one-time opportunity, with only one direct assistance payment per household (for residential) or account holder and their successors (for non-residential). Applicants meeting eligibility criteria will receive a direct assistance payment reflected within the next billing period. Please keep in mind that the cause of economic hardship MUST be due to the COVID-19 pandemic and any other reasons do not qualify for the COVID-19 Utility Assistance Funds.
