Who is eligible to receive COVID-19 Utilities Assistance Funds?

Households or businesses that receive water and/or sewer bills from Spotsylvania County Utilities who meet the program eligibility criteria. 

  • You must be able to attest that you were unable to pay your water/sewer bill between March 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021, due to temporary loss of income, reduction in hours, or unemployment, or any combination thereof, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic only. 
  • Your water and/or sewer account must be an open account, at least 30 days past due, and the past due balance must have occurred between March 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021, to be considered for relief under this program. 
  • The rules and regulations associated under section 601(a) of the Social Security Act, as added by section 5001 of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act ("CARES Act") will govern the use of the COVID-19 Utility Assistance Funds.
