Does Spotsylvania have a Cigarette Tax?

Effective October 1, 2021, there will be in place a cigarette tax in the amount of $0.30 for each pack containing 20 cigarettes, and $0.02 per cigarette in packs where the count varies from 20. The tax is evidenced by the use of a tax stamp and must be paid by each cigarette dealer or other person liable for the tax. The Northern Virginia Cigarette Tax Board will administer the tax on behalf of the County and will be working with dealers and other persons liable for the tax in advance of the October 1, 2021 effective date. The enacting ordinance (Chapter 21 Article XV) is located here.
