[ARCHIVED] 15TH ANNUAL SPOTSYLVANIA STARS & STRIPES SPECTACULAR

Spotsylvania, Va.–June 19, 2019–The 15th annual Stars & Stripes Spectacular returns to the Spotsylvania Courthouse District Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 3-10 p.m.The event held at historic Spotsylvania Courthouse, the Holbert Building, Robert E. Lee Elementary School and Spotsylvania Courthouse Village, includes four stages of live music and entertainment. New this year—a walking parade that gets underway at 3:30 p.m. The parade route will begin in the Holbert Building front parking lot and conclude at the main stage behind Robert E. Lee Elementary. 

This year’s event hosts nearly 30 food vendors, more than 40 business vendors, free children’s rides and inflatables, as well as demonstrations from Spotsylvania Fire & Rescue, the Sheriff’s Office and the military. Free tours of historic Spotsylvania Courthouse, the Old Jail and the County Museum will also be offered. There are numerous road closures associated with the event. Plenty of free parking is available at Courtland High School, Courtland Elementary School and Courthouse Road Elementary, where shuttle buses will transport attendees to Robert E. Lee Elementary School. There is also limited free parking in the county’s Public Safety Building lot on Dean Ridings Lane. In addition, limited paid parking can be found in the field at the corner of Brock Road and Courthouse Bypass (entrance off Brock Road). Field parking is a $5 donation to the Spotsylvania High School Athletic Boosters 

Parents are encouraged to visit information tables and first aid stations upon arrival to have their kids banded as part of the missing child wristband system. The evening concludes with a 30-minute spectacular fireworks display sponsored by Vakos Companies that is synchronized with a musical soundtrack produced by staff at WBQB 101.5 FM. The rain date for this event is Sunday, June 30, 2019. 

Spotsylvania Stars and Stripes Spectacular is the county’s Independence Day celebration held each year the Saturday before the Fourth of July. The event draws 25,000-30,000 people each year.
