Water Meter Set Requirements

Spotsylvania County Utilities general requirements for water meter sets are as follows:

  • Meter barrel must be graded to 2 inches from the final grade
  • Meter yoke/setter must be 18 inches to 22 inches deep from the top of the lid
  • Meter yoke/setter must have 4 inches to 6 inches clearance under the yoke/setter
  • Corresponding sewer lateral must pass Sanitary Sewer Lateral Inspection
  • Spotsylvania County Utilities Engineering and Construction division must have all required project documents (i.e. as-built plans, cost estimates, and passing bacteriological tests, etc.)
  • Record of payment in full for tap fees, meter fees, connection costs, inspection fees, etc.
