The Spotsylvania County Capital Construction Division occasionally manages minor locally-administered transportation projects in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Transportation. The following project is currently underway.
Spotsylvania Courthouse Streetscape Project - Phase II
This project is currently in the right-of-way phase, which upon completion will extend the existing sidewalks from the approximate location at Company 1 Fire and Rescue Station to the Village at Spotsylvania Courthouse. The plans include adding streetlights, pedestrian crossings, utility improvements and curb and gutter to provide additional pedestrian access to County offices, Court Buildings, County Museum and the Confederate Cemetery. This project is part of a federally-funded Transportation Enhancement grant program, coordinated with the Virginia Department of Transportation. Construction is expected to be completed by Fall of 2020.
