Boxes should be flattened. This helps us collect material and helps you store as a flattened box takes up less space.

Metal or plastic tops may stay on bottles and jars.
Used OilA tank is provided for the collection of used oils (motor, hydraulic, gear). No cooking oils or contaminated oils.

Batteries

Spotsylvania Recycles offers automotive battery recycling at the Chancellor Solid Waste Center and the Livingston Landfill. Batteries accepted include 6 volt, 12 volt, 24 volt batteries automotive, marine, lawn equipment, tractors, and heavy equipment. Computer UPS battery backups and any lead acid core batteries are also accepted. Alkaline batteries are disposable, but not recyclable.  If you're not sure if your type battery is accepted, please see a gate attendant.

Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLs)

Spotsylvania Recycles offers Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb recycling at all Solid Waste Centers.
Fluorescent tubes smaller than 6 inches in length will be accepted for recycling at the Chancellor Solid Waste Center only. Please see your gate attendant for assistance.

Propane Tanks 

Spotsylvania Recycles offers propane tank recycling for residents at the Chancellor Solid Waste Center and the Livingston Landfill. Tanks should be 20 pounds (used on gas grills) or smaller. If you have a larger tank, please call 540-507-7725 to discuss your recycle options.
