Commissioner of the Revenue

Purpose

The Commissioner of the Revenue is a constitutional officer elected for a four-year term by general election

Duties

The Commissioner of Revenue staff:

  • Accepts and reviews applications for Land Use, Tax Relief for the Elderly and Disabled, and Real Estate exemption for Veterans
  • Creates and maintains the County land book
  • Provides adjustments when necessary to any assessment
  • Provides assessments for: 
    • Business license
    • Business property
    • Excise tax
    • Meals tax
    • Personal property

Also, oversees the Assessment office and assist citizens with filing of State Income Tax.
