U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Robert Marshall Stanley was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While serving as the Squad Leader of 1st platoon, he and 6 of his men were killed in Combat on March 5th, 2007 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Rob was 27 years old and a Spotsylvania County native.
He had attended Fredericksburg Christian School and Spotsylvania High. This was his 4th Combat tour including Afghanistan and Iraq. In addition to his many prior awards and metals, he was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Baseball Field Number 6 at Patriot Park is dedicated to honoring his service and sacrifice to our country - a true patriot!
