Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes Due December 5th, 2022
COUNTY OF SPOTSYLVANIA
ATTENTION SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY RESIDENTS
SECOND HALF 2022 REAL ESTATE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES ARE DUE DECEMBER 5, 2022
If your tax bill is not paid in full by the due date a late payment penalty of 10% will be assessed on the original tax amount less any tax payments.
Payments must be postmarked by DECEMBER 5, 2022.
Tax bills have been mailed for personal property and all real estate accounts that have not been requested by a mortgage company. If a mortgage company is responsible for paying your real estate bill you will not receive a copy of the bill.
Effective March 22, 2022, The General Assembly passed House Bill 1239 that localities could adopt to create a new class of personal property. Under this bill it provides a locality the option to assign a rate of tax different from the general class of personal property. The Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors has chosen to adopt this new class to benefit the taxpayers. The Board also lowered the rate for this class (see Tax Bulletin 22-4) from $6.35 to $5.42 per $100 assessment. This will on average lower the tax due on this new class of qualifying personal property to offset the JD Powers (fka NADA) value used for assessments.
A PDF of your bill is currently available at www.spotsylvania.va.us, “Pay Your Bill”. Please allow time to receive your bill and insert that will explain which tax rate and class your vehicle qualified for.
If you have not received a tax bill, please call our office at (540) 507-7058. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve you of your obligation to pay by the due date. You can also look up your account balance and pay your bill online at spotsylvania.va.us Select Pay Your Bill
