Employment Assistance

Temporary Employment

We understand that many people have been displaced from their career, and may be seeking temporary employment during the COVID-19 crisis. The Virginia Workforce Connection is great place to start! You can use their "Job Seekers" portal to search specifically for temporary employment. Go to Portal.

You can also contact our local Virginia Career Works Center at 540-322-5768 for further assistance. As of July 17th, they have re-opened to the public by appointment only. They are able to assist customers with searching and applying for jobs, finding training and navigating the workforce.

Unemployment Benefits

The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) administers the unemployment compensation program that provides temporary financial assistance to individuals who become unemployed through no fault of their own.  Benefits are paid through taxes on employers covered under the Virginia Unemployment Compensation Act.  No part of the cost of your unemployment benefits is deducted from your earnings.
