Tuesday-Saturday for adoption, visitation, redemption, or surrender.

Animal Control provides animal control services to the County, including the collection of animals running at large, and sick or injured animals; and receives and investigates reports of suspected animal cruelty or neglect, animal bites and vicious dogs.

The Spotsylvania Sheriff Office/Division of Animal Control is responsible for enforcing Virginia State Laws, and Spotsylvania County Ordinances. Please refer to Chapters 4 and 13 of the Spotsylvania County Code for any ordinances pertaining to animals. Animal Control Officers are responsible for providing emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Knowing your community’s animal-related ordinances and properly caring for your pets will help make your neighborhood a better place for everyone.
