The FMC Wastewater Treatment Plant was initially constructed by the FMC Corporation and began operating in 1967 to treat process wastewater from a cellophane manufacturing facility. The County purchased the wastewater facility from the FMC Corporation in 1980 and brought it online for municipal service in 1985. The facility was most recently upgraded in the late 1990s to incorporate advanced nitrogen removal. The FMC Wastewater Treatment Plant is designed to treat 4 MGD average daily flow.
