Fire Hydrant Flow Test Request

A request for a hydrant flow test can be made by filling out the Fire Hydrant Flow Test Request Form (PDF) and sending it by email to [email protected]; or complete the online form here:  Fire Hydrant Flow Test Request. Depending on the site location, available flow information can generally be obtained in one of two ways.

  1. If recent (less than one-year old) fire flow test information is available in our files in the vicinity of the desired test location, the requested information can be provided to the applicant in the form of a hydrant flow curve generated using our hydraulic model.
  2. If recent fire flow test information is not available, the requesting party will need to have a flow test performed by either their internal staff, or a contracted party. The Spotsylvania County Utilities Department will not perform requested hydrant flow tests or provide equipment to be used during the test. A member of the Utilities Department staff should be on-site to witness the test.

After a field test has been performed, the Utilities Department can provide a hydrant flow curve at any nearby location to the test site.

Please fill out the Fire Hydrant Flow Test Request Form (PDF) and email it to [email protected]; or complete the online form here:  Fire Hydrant Flow Test Request. You should receive a response in three to five business days with either: flow information generated using our hydraulic model, or with the availability of Spotsylvania County Utilities staff to witness the test.
