Outdoor Recreation
Lake Anna offers 13,000 acres of swimming, sailing, water-skiing and sport fishing. At the Lake Anna State Park, visitors and the community enjoy picnicking, horseback riding, bicycling, hiking/walking trails and camping. There are additional nature and outdoors sites, like the Ni River Reservoir and the Hunting Run Reservoir. Community gathering places for sports, music and other outdoor activities include the County's award-winning Patriot Park and the popular Loriella Park, with its lighted sports fields and swimming pool.
Spotsylvania County blends beautiful rural landscapes with an energetic, growing community. It is one of Virginia's fastest-growing counties, largely because of its desirable location along Interstate 95, midway between metropolitan Washington, D.C, and Richmond. The 2010 U.S. Census figures indicate an estimated County population of 122,397.

There are several colleges and universities in the area including the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Germanna Community College (Locust Grove and Fredericksburg campuses), Adult and community education is a major part of the total education program in Spotsylvania.
Air conditioning and refrigeration, auto mechanics, drafting, and electricity are a few of the many courses offered at the Spotsylvania Career and Technical Center. Specialized training and in-plant courses can be organized on request. English as Second Language (ESL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), and GED courses; vocational and technical training; and apprenticeship training are also available as well as pre-schools and daycare facilities.
Medical Facilities
The Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center is located on a 75-acre campus adjacent to I-95 in Spotsylvania County. The hospital includes 126 beds, all private rooms, 24 hour emergency care, intensive care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging services, obstetrics, neonatal care, cardiac services and more.
Mary Washington Hospital Medical Campus in Fredericksburg serves the area. This 412-bed, the acute-care medical center offers a range of services like cardiovascular care, surgical services, radiology services, a mental health facility, diagnostic tests, and emergency care with over 45 medical specialties and more than 300 area doctors and allied health professionals. There are also a number of general, specialty and urgent care facilities and 5 nursing homes in the area.
Sports
There are a variety of youth sports available throughout the area including football, soccer, swimming, dance, gymnastics, etc. There is also a full range of High School and College sports teams and events. Spotsylvania’s proximity to Richmond, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore make enjoying professional sports such as basketball, soccer, baseball, football, hockey and NASCAR easy.
