Purpose
The primary mission of the Rappahannock Regional Jail Authority is to provide protection for the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia from those who have been remanded into custody. As the conditions of confinement are important in an effective jail system, we make a commitment to provide a humane environment for those confined.
The Rappahannock Regional Jail Authority is operated by properly trained personnel using the principles of direct supervision, to provide a secure, safe, efficient, progressive, and humane facility for both staff and inmates.
RRJ will provide inmates an opportunity for personal growth through implementation
of academic and life skills programs and substance abuse counseling and education.
RRJ is a public service organization that has an integral place in the public safety community and is therefore obligated to keep the public informed of its costs and the effect of policies and legislation governing and impacting the operation of this facility.
RRJ will uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia and will comply with the Jail Standards of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Structure:
Three members from each of the member localities: Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, Stafford and King George.
Day and Time of Meetings: 4th Thursday of every other month, beginning in January at 1:00pm
