The Board of Equalization serves to equalize property assessments.
Structure:
No less than 3 or more than 5 members. All board members shall be residents, a majority of whom shall be freeholders in the locality for which they are to serve and they shall be selected from the citizens of the locality. Appointments to the board shall be broadly representative of the community. Thirty percent of the board members shall be commercial or residential real estate appraisers, other real estate professionals, builders, developers, or legal or financial professionals, and at least one member shall sit in all cases involving commercial, industrial, or multi-family residential property, unless waived by the taxpayer. Appointed members are required to make written disclosure of interests in real estate within the County or interests in businesses involving the sale, exchange or development of real estate
