GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS)
ACCESS TERMS, CONDITIONS AND DISCLAIMERS
The geographical and property boundary data (collectively referred to as “Data”) you are about to access from Spotsylvania County’s Geographical Information System (GIS) is made available as a matter of public service and is intended for information purposes only. Data constitutes an electronic public record as defined by the Code of Virginia (1950, as amended). Due to the fact that this information constitutes a public record, you may not alter or attempt to alter the Data. Spotsylvania county shall not be responsible for alterations made to Data obtained from GIS.
All information obtained from GIS is provided “as is” and Spotsylvania County disclaims any and all warranties, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to, warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, and warranties arising by custom, usage, course of dealing, performance or otherwise.
Spotsylvania County has made every reasonable effort to assure Data is correct however, no guarantee is made as to the accuracy of Data. Any determination of topography or contours, or any depiction of physical improvements, property lines or boundaries, are solely for general information and shall not be used, or relied upon, in the design, modification, or construction of improvements to real property or for wetland or flood plain determination. Data is not a legal representation of information depicted and as such, has no legal bearing on the true shape, size, location, or existence of the real property depicted. Data should not substitute for a professional survey or deed research. All official plats are recorded and stored by the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Spotsylvania County.
Spotsylvania County does not assume any responsibility for any errors, deficiencies, defects, omissions, or inaccuracies in Data, even if, the County is advised of the possibility that Data may not be accurate. Spotsylvania County shall not be liable to the user, or to any other person, for any actions; claims; incidental, consequential or special damages – including loss of facilities (computer resources, stored data), lost profits, business interruption, loss of business information or other pecuniary loss; or judgments arising out of, or in connection with, the use or misuse, reliance on, or performance of, Data. The user of this information assumes all liability for their dependence on any Data obtained.
All Data obtained from GIS is proprietary information of Spotsylvania County. Any resale, reproduction, publishing, dissemination of, or unauthorized public use of this information for commercial purposes is prohibited. All applicable common law and statutory rights in Data shall and will remain the property of the County.
The data made available on the following pages is updated periodically. If you believe any data provided is inaccurate, please inform the GIS Division by e-mail at gis@spotsylvania.va.us.
Any person or entity obtaining or using any Data from Spotsylvania County’s GIS does hereby consent and agree to the terms, conditions and disclaimers set forth above. If you do not agree to these terms, conditions and disclaimers, you cannot proceed to access GIS.
