Purpose: The Clerk of the Circuit Court is a constitutional officer elected by the voters of Spotsylvania for a term of eight years. The Clerk performs three major functions: administrator of the court of record; registrar of deeds; and probate official. |

Purpose: The Commonwealth's Attorney represents the Commonwealth of Virginia as prosecutor in the General District Court, the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, the Circuit Court, and in the Court of Appeals. |

Purpose: The General District Court has original jurisdiction in all misdemeanor cases and holds preliminary hearings on felony warrants. In civil cases, the court has original jurisdiction in claims involving $1,000 or less and shared jurisdiction with the Circuit Court in cases involving amounts up to $15,000. |
