Social Services Advisory Board
Purpose
To assist the director of Social Services in an advisory capacity with the planning and development of programs and services providing public assistance to persons in need in the community.
Vision: A collaborative network of government and community-based affordable and high quality human/social services that enable families and individuals to be healthy and productive members of the community.
Advisory Board Duties:
- Monitors and makes recommendations on local social welfare programs
- Meets with local director at least quarterly
- Prepares reports to local governing body as appropriate.
Structure:
Seven members appointed by election district to four-year terms, not to exceed 2 consecutive terms (in addition to an unexpired term) See Code of Virginia Sec. 63.2-305.
Day and Time of Meetings: 4th Wednesday of every other month beginning in February at 9am. Additional meetings may be called by the Advisory Board.
