George Washington Regional Commission

Purpose

The George Washington Regional Commission (GWRC) is the State designated Planning District Commission (PDC) for the Fredericksburg area and is comprised of the localities of Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George and Stafford counties and the City of Fredericksburg.  Each county and city governing body appoints two elected officials to sit on the GWRC Board. The Commissioners serve a term that is concident with their elected term of office. The Chairman is selected by majority vote and serves for a period of one year. The Chairmanship is rotated between the member jurisdictions of the Commission.

Structure:

Presently, the Commission is comprised of two local governing officials from each jurisdiction.  The five jurisdictions are the City of Fredericksburg, and the Counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, and Caroline.

Day and Time of Meetings: 3rd Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
