The Treasurer is a constitutional officer elected for a four-year term by general election. The Treasurer’s office prepares, mails, and collects all tax bills for real and personal property located in Spotsylvania County. The office is also the collection point for the majority of fees and taxes generated by or within the County, including water and sewer charges, business licenses, meals tax, local vehicle license fees, etc. The Treasurer’s office prepares a daily cash report and balances all cash, tax receivables and County bank accounts on a monthly basis, and is responsible for all funds that are received, dispersed or invested. Staff members often act as a liaison between residents and other County departments.
