Our Mission
Our mission is to serve our customers by providing a consistent, timely and efficient framework for planning, promoting and advancing development within Spotsylvania County. We work to ensure public safety and quality of life by informing, supporting and guiding our citizens, future citizens and business partners through the development process in a professional and proficient manner.
The Organization of Community Development serves as staff to the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission, the Board of Zoning Appeals, the Board of Building Code Appeals and the public; with respect to land use planning and development. Planning For information on goals & policies of land use as established by the Comprehensive Plan, for the development of plans that address land use, environmental protection, transportation, housing, public facilities and design standards

Building Information about Residential and Commercial building inspections and plan review

Zoning Information pertaining to general land use issues, set back requirements, code enforcement, signs, and permitting

Environmental Engineering Information on land disturbance, clearing and grading permits, RPA, flood plains and erosion bonds and erosion inspection criteria

Permit Center Information on all Community Development related paperwork and processes

Development Review Processes
