The purpose of the Planning Department is to provide expertise and carry out the goals and policies of land use in the County as established in the Comprehensive Plan. The Department is responsible for the development of plans that address land use, environmental protection, transportation, housing, public facilities and design standards.

Important Information

• The Design Standards Manual update adopted by the Board of Supervisors on January 10, 2012 is available under General Information - Publications, Policies, and Guidelines.
  
• Effective February 15, 2012, Planning Commission meetings will begin at 7:00 p.m., rather than 7:30 p.m.  The meeting days (first and third Wednesday of each month) and location (Board Meeting Room, 9104 Courthouse Road) remain unchanged.

Spotsylvania Toll Road

The Board of Supervisors approved this resolution on January 10, 2012.  In light of the resolution, the County will not be proceeding with the Comprehensive Plan amendment process to consider adding the proposed road to the Thoroughfare Plan.
