Website Plug-ins

Plug-ins for Video

Our website uses some additional software in coordination with your web browser to provide you with a better experience on our website.  These types of software are known as plug-ins.  Listed below are the plug-ins that we utilize on our website, where to download them, and why we use them.

Adobe Acrobat

Adobe Acrobat allows you to view files that are in the Portable Document Format (PDF).  These files end in the extension .pdf.  Most new computers have a PDF viewer installed, and it is often Adobe Acrobat. However, if you have an older computer, you may need to download the Adobe Acrobat software in order to enable your computer to read and open PDF files for viewing.  You can visit Adobe Software's website (www.adobe.com) to learn more about Adobe Acrobat, or you can go directly to the download page for Adobe Acrobat.

We use PDF files when we need to maintain formatting of a document, or to provide you documents that we have scanned into our system.  In addition, we also use PDF files to provide you meeting minutes and agendas from our various Boards and Commissions.

Macromedia Flash 6 (MX)

Macromedia Flash allows you to view ShockWave Flash (SWF) files. These files end in the extension .swf.  The majority of new web browsers will already have the flash player installed.  However, there are some older browsers that come with an outdated version or don't come with it at all.  You can visit Macromedia's website (www.macromedia.com) to learn more about Flash, or you can go directly to the download page for Macromedia Flash 6 (MX).

On our site we use Flash to provide you with easier-to-use navigation systems, such as the menu on our home page.  This software allows us to create interfaces, which will function consistently across multiple platforms.

WinZip

The WinZip Evaluation Version allows you to open and view files that have been 'zipped'.  You can visit WinZip's website (www.winzip.com/info.htm) to learn more about WinZip, or you can go directly to the download page for the WinZip Evaluation Version.

Zip files are "archives" used for distributing and storing files.  Zip files contain one or more files. Usually the files "archived" in a Zip are compressed to save space.  Zip files make it easy to group files and make transporting and copying these files faster.
