Director of Elections & General Registrar's Office

Purpose

The Director of Elections / General Registrar provides all eligible citizens convenient access for voter registration, maintains 88,000 voter records and other election-related data accurately, organizes and oversees voter registration drives, trains Election Officials, conducts locality absentee voting, manages new candidate qualifications with campaign finance and supervises primary, special and general election polling precincts for local, state and federal elections.

Office Hours:  Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm...additional hours before Election dates.  (Location of our office.)

An appointed constitutional officer, the Director of Elections / General Registrar ensures that the opportunity to register and vote is available to all eligible residents. Managing efficient elections while protecting the integrity of the democratic process, the Registrar's office also compiles and maintains accurate voter records and processes election results. The Registrar conducts all voter administration and elections as required by the Constitution, Code of Virginia and directives of the Department of Elections.

  • March 6th our department relocated to the Southpoint area (same building as the Visitor's Center): 4708 Southpoint Parkway, 22407.  
  • Our County will hold a June 12, 2018 DUAL Primary Election.  This means you will choose A BALLOT to vote that day.  You can only vote once - so when you show your photo ID and check in, you let the official know if you'd like a REP or DEM ballot. Sample Ballots:  DEM, 1st CD -  DEM, 7th CD -  REP (both 1st and 7th CD)
